#Atlanta&Surroundings - Day 1 & 2

Leaving for a trip is always a beautiful experience. Doing it alone is exciting but if you spend 22 hours travelling, from your home to destination, you arrive exhausted.

"Io."
"Che lavoro fai?"
"Sono una studentessa, lavoro saltuariamente."
"Non dovresti essere a lezione?"
"Ehm, si, ehm, ora sono qui, quindi no."
"Chi paga i tuoi studi?"
"I miei."
"E gli fai sprecare soldi?"
"Scusi?"
"Puoi andare."
"GRAZIE."

Eternal travel. One stop over at Frankfurt of 4 hours, which 3 and a half I slept in front of the gate. Then, the flight to Atlanta, GA. No bumpy and no crying child, I tried to chat up to my nearby passenger but she ignored me most of the time. I watched 3 movies and a half and I fell asleep more than once. When I landed I had to go through the immigration control and a jerk woman who covered me of questions, some of them non-pertinent,

"Who is paying for this trip?"
"Me."
"What's your job?"
"I'm a student, I work occasionally."
"Weren't you supposed to be at class?"
"Ehm, yes, ehm, but I'm here, so no."
"Who's paying for your education?"
"My parents."
"You make them waste their money?"
"Excuse me?"
"You can go."
"THANKS."

Waiting for me there was Ashby, Kara's  roommate, and his boyfriend Mike. We reached home at 6 pm (midnight in Italy) where we waited for Kara coming back from work.
We went to Flip Burger in 'Buckhead' area for dinner. The restaurant is cool, all the furnitures upside down. I enjoyed my first American cheeseburger.

Molto folcloristico. È esattamente quell'America che ti aspetti. Mi piace moltissimo.

Even if my first morning I could sleep the time zone didn't let me. For lunch time, Ashby rides me to her campus (Emory University) where I saw some fraternities and the restaurants. I had just fruits and while I was sitting to eat them I hear this song, well, I really feel on vacation now. We are in 'Briarcliff' area, sourrounded by the green hills you can't even tell that you are in a city.
In the late afternoon, all together we went shopping and dinner with their bible study group in 'Dunwoody' area.
No any special activity but I'm looking around and I'm encountering locals, all so nice and kind, they say hello even if they don't know you, it's a bit strange at the beginning but after a while you get used to. They are so much nice, boys and girls, that people stop you in the streets just to do compliments. Considering that this is a population formed by Supermen and Thors I may easily get used to this kind of treatment. Atlanta is beautiful, very green and hilly. Full of African Americans, huge difference with Michigan, with this strong southern accent. Very folkloristic. It's exactly what you expect of deep south United States. I love it.
